Macedonia

Note: In 1944, Yugoslavia
replaced the enchanting Slavic name of "Vardarska Banovina"
for this area with the "3000 year old Greek name",
Macedonia. This was part of the failed aggressive strategy by
the Communist Bloc to take over the Greek Province of Macedonia
by military invasion and thence gain access to ports on the Aegean
Sea. The south Slavs were NOT being nice. Currently, since the
territory of Vardarska Banovina was once part of ancient Greek
Macedonia, the charitable Greeks have stated it would be acceptable
if the name Macedonia was continued to be used as long as it
had geographic qualifier such as "North Macedonia, or Upper
Macedonia". But really, is it not embarrassing for the south
Slavs of the former Yugoslavia in the 21st century to continue
identifying themselves as "Greeks"? Have they no identity
for themselves? Everybody knows Macedonians are Greeks! Would
New Yorkers now say they are "Quebecers"? Would Londoners
now say they are Parisians? Would the Chinese say they are Russians?
It's such a ridiculous situation.
